2000gns Sets Record for In Lamb Zwartbles

A record price for an in lamb ewe was broken at the recent Zwartbles sale held at Harrison and Hetherington Carlisle. The record was set by the overall champion of the day a shearling ewe making 2000gns. The Marton bred gimmer brought out by J Thorburn Dumfries met furious bidding and was eventually secured by H Pritchard’s Evistone’s flock Newcastle upon Tyne. Continuing a fast trade was another shearling selling to 1,400gns this was from T Birkbeck’s Tombob flock Kirkby Stephen and sold to a new breeder M Cornish Buckfastleigh Devon.

Demand continued at a fast pace with the reserve champion a ewe lamb Millburn Blaze making 1,400gns this February born lamb from J I Bell Lochmaben Lockerbie also sold to M Cornish Buckfastleigh Devon followed by a lamb at 700gns from J Millar Joyfield Bramble selling to A Selway’s Welland flock Stalbridge Dorset. Both lambs were by the same sire.

Flock ewes topped at 400gns this Adeney ewe brought out by J Thorburn Dumfries sold to S Gilbert’s Hayberries flock Barnard Castle next at 280gns a Pen Llyn ewe brought out by G Thornborrow Peebles selling to C Critchley’s Clarewood flock Hutton Preston.

Non MV Ewe Lambs sold to a top of 180gns Norville Bessie from M & B Lightburn Penrith sold to Dent & Pounder’s Primrose flock Bedale N Yorks.
