Sale Report for Welshpool Market on September 26, 2015

 

One For The Boys!

The third sale to be held at Welshpool Market didn’t attract many sheep but was well supported by buyers. Topping the sale at 560gns was Olwen Hughes-Owen’s Lot 507, Cynefin Cledwyn, who stood second in the older ram lamb show class, and found a new home with the recently established Abbey Stone flock of Mr P Dickerson in Staffordshire. Mrs Hughes-Owen also produced the winner of the younger ram lamb class and Reserve Champion Lot 506, Cynefin Ceiron, who made joint second top price of 500gns and was bought by GJ Wassink for his Knowbury flock, Ludlow. Female and overall Champion was the older ewe lamb class winner, Lot 596, Gyfelan Bach, brought out by her breeder Jane Ryan and was the highest priced female on the day, again selling for 500gns to TG Williams. Second in price, at 400gns, to the Champion, was Lot 545, a Pen Llyn ewe lamb, brought out by her breeder Mr WJ Williams, who went to join junior member Master O Crossen’s Roscallie flock in Shropshire. This ewe lamb also topped her show class, the younger ewe lambs.

Flock Ewes:
8 were forward but only 6 sold with a top price of 110gns realised for a 1 crop ewe, Ridgeway Amber, Lot 521, from Messrs BH & DC Roberts, selling to M Simpson.

Shearling Ewes:
6 forward and the section was topped by Lot 532, Adeney Bea, 3rd in the show class, who made the trip from Newport, Shropshire with her breeder Cathy Johnson. She sold for 340gns and went to join another new flock, Mydr, owned by Miss E Skyrme. The Mydr flock was also the buyer of the joint second top priced lady, Lot 531, Bobet Blackberry, winner of her class,consigned by Bob and Betty Williams, whilst the buyer of the top priced ewe, M Simpson, also bought the other priced at 320gns, Lot 527, a Cynefin girl, who stood second in her class.

Ewe Lambs:

Biggest section of the day with 73 entered and next in price to the 2 previously mentioned was Lot 605, Glengorse Camelia, the last sheep through the ring. Bred by Mr & Mrs DW Hutchinson, she sold for 380gns to Ashton Selway’s Welland flock in Dorset. She was very closely followed by Lot 604, another Glengorse girl, Chastity, bought by Aura-Soma for 320gns.

Senior Ram:

Only 1 entered but he failed to find a new home.

Shearling Rams:

3 forward but again there were no buyers in this section.

Ram Lambs:

Only 6 boys found new homes and 3rd top price in this section of 160gns went to Lot 510, Pen Llyn Columbo. He was bought by B Veenstra

6 shearling ewes 206gns

59 ewe lambs 178gns

6 ram lambs 261gns
