Worcester Sale
Approximately 87 of the 113 sheep were forward for sale at Worcester on the 18th October. Sale was brisk for the good stock, but some animals were hard to sell. The final tally was 86% of sheep forward were sold.
Top of the sale was the first prize ewe lamb bred and shown by Mr. & Mrs. Bob and Betty Williams. This female sold to Mr. Wyllie for 720 gns. He also bought their aged ewe afer she failed to reach her reserve in the ring.
Mr A Smith-Maxwell continued his buying, begun at the early Worcester Sale, with the Overall Champion Zwartbles, the shearling ewe bred and sold by Mrs Molly McConkey. This topped the shearling females at 55ogns, with Mr Smith-Maxwell adding a shearling from the Orchard flock for 330 gns.
Alison Smith presented two lovely pens of shearling ewes and was rewarded with a good overall trade topping at 340 gns to Mr & Mrs Holloway of Wellingborough. These shearlings had already claimed first and third in the shearling ewe class and were a group of sheep to be proud of.
Vicky Grinnall, of Clay Farm, sold the second prize ewe lamb for 350 gns to finish a good year of sales for her Beech Hay flock.
The message was again, good sheep, well prepared find homes readily.
