Welshpool September 2014

Welshpool Sale on September 27, 2014

The annual Sale held at Welshpool was the second sale this year to be topped by a ewe lamb, the Overall Champion, Cernyw Beca, brought out by G & L Owen, Abergele and sold for 380gns to Cathy Johnson’s Adeney flock, Shropshire. Other leading prices were as follows:

Shearling Rams: The section was topped by Dash Wood Aramis, second in his show class and topping the male trade at 320gns. Bred by Mrs C J McBean, Bicester, he joined W. Davies and son, Montgomery.

Ram Lambs: Male Champion and Reserve Overall topped off a splendid day for Mrs McBean, making the long journey from Oxfordshire worthwhile by sharing the top price in the ram lambs, 200gns. Dash Wood Burlington, an April born lamb, was sold to the Redgate flock of John Moore and Alice Coleman. Sharing the honours was Mrs Olwen Hughes-Owen’s Cynefin Bedwyr, who stood 5th in his class and bought by HM Powell & Son, Montgomery.

Ewes/Shearling Ewes: Adeney Wenlock, Cathy Johnson’s ewe, was leader in this section, selling at 320gns to R Sollis, New Quay, Ceredigion closely followed by another Adeney sheep, this time a shearling ewe who made 280gns and found a new home with W Davies & Son.

Ewe lambs: Outwith the Champion, the next highest price was 220 and 3 lots realised this: Barmoll Bojangles, Mr
& Mrs E M McConkey, selling to JG Lewis & Co, Aberystwyth, and Conwy Bess and Conwy Blueberry, both consigned by Mrs Heather Hughes, and both finding a home with TG Williams, Caernarvon.
