Sale Report for Worcester Sale on September 5, 2015

Northern Raider takes Top Spot
A mammoth trip from Invernessshire to Worcester paid off for the Mair family when they not only took the Championship at the pre-sale show with their prolific winning shearling ram (and the only shearling ram to find a new home) Hedgefield Bonny Lad, but also topped the sale with him at 1500 guineas, selling to Heather Hughes’ North Wales based Conwy Flock.
The Reserve Show Champion, a Washingpool ewe lamb 00047-329C (a substitute) produced by Barry Mills, also made reserve top price of 550 guineas and goes to join Pam Browne’s Rull Green Flock in Devon. Third top price of 380 guineas was realised by another ewe lamb, Conwy Christy, from Heather Hughes and making the trip up to Yorkshire to join the Brookdene Flock of Raymond Heigh. Staying with the ewe lambs, a third lamb joined the over 300 guineas club, a substitute again, 00811-004C from G & L Owen’s Cernyw flock. This ewe lamb topped the younger ewe lamb class and sold for 320 gns and has gone over the water to the Stroudwood Flock on the Isle of Wight.

Ram Lambs were jointly topped by Barmoll Crackerjack, Eric and Molly McConkey who also won the older ram lamb show class and Reserve Male Champion, and Ridgeway Cracker, BH & DC Roberts, 3rd prize winner in the younger ram lamb show class. Both realised 200 gns and went to the Rull Green Flock and to Corsham, Wiltshire respectively.
Top price of 190 gns was paid for the first prize winning ewe, Barmoll Wren, another going to Corsham, whilst second top price of 150 gns for Barmoll Anita, was paid by Jethro Kimber for his Speccott flock.
Rounding off a good day for the Mairs was the Shearling Ewe class winner and Reserve Female Champion, Hedgefield Beauly Queen, realising 360 gns, and travelling as far south as she could to join the Stroudwood Flock on the IOW, an impressive journey total of over 620 miles from start to finish! Second top price was 340 gns for Bunshill 00081-080B, second prize Shearling ewe, sold by breeder Alison Smith and again going down to Corsham, closely followed by 320 gns, again a Bunshill girl, 00081-087B, this time going to Crewe.
