Premier Sale at Carlisle Tops at 1600gns

The twelfth annual sale held at Harrison and Hetherington Carlisle attracted a packed ring of enthusiastic buyers. Topping the day at
1600gns was Lochwood Cammy a shearling tup owned by T & I Goldie Dumfries selling to E Harrold’s Auldyne flock Huntley. Other leading shearling prices were at 520gns for Barmurrie Ceasar from G & M Smith Castle Douglas selling to M Workman’s Drumhirk flock Co Monaghan and at 500gns for Top Notch Cantona from H Sloan Dumfries selling to W & J Dixon’s Beech House flock Aspatria.

Quality ram lambs were sought after and topped at 1500gns for Donbraid Direction from I & A Donald Co Tyrone selling to D Moir’s
Cairness flock Aberdeenshire. Next at 1100gns three times including the reserve supreme champion The Fort Del Boy from C Cromie Co Down selling to R Heigh’s Brookdene Flock, Lancaster, Stainmore Django from F Brown Bowes selling to L Campbell’s Glencloy flock Co Antrim and Killymallaght Dexter from A & R Megarrell County Londerry selling to O Crossen’s Roscallie flock Shrewsbury and next at 950gns bought by H Hourston Didcot flock Orkney was Cernyw Dynameit and was sold by G & l Owen Conwy.

The only aged ram forward made 1100gns Didcot Benji owned by J & N Millar Lockerbie sold to K & S Cowin’s Hellstanes flock
Lanark.

Shearling ewes topped at 950gns for Killymallaght Class Act from A & R Megarrell selling to D Brisbane’s Auchmantles flock Stranraer then at 900gns from H Sloan’s Top Notch flock Dumfries Top Notch Cool Spirit and Cinderella both going to M Campagnoni’s Hoscote flock Hawick. Next at 800gns was for Barmurrie Casa Blanca from G & M Smith selling to A Lloyds Derwen flock. The same buyer also bought the top aged ewe paying 380gns for Saltur Black Bet from T & S Donnelly.

Ewe lambs met a fierce trade and topped at 1050gns for Bessiebell Delta Dawn from S Smyth Co Tyrone selling again to the Hoscote flock Hawick who also bought the next at 1000gns Greystone Darcy from Messrs McLaren and Baird Stirling. Next at 850gns was Wheatfield Doreen from A Ingleby Preston selling to W Holloway’s Charoland flock Preston and then three at 800gns
Cragie’s Diamond from S Craig Melsrose to A Dickinson’s Harle flock Kirkharle, Stewarton Dipsy from C McCornick Newton Steward selling to L Crum’s Torranyard flock Kilmarnock and a Cynefin lamb from O Hughes Owen Anglesey selling to J & F Wilkie’s Whitestone flock Aberdeenshire.
