Although the ringside wasn’t packed with buyers, the 4th annual Welshpool Sale attracted members from as far afield as the north of Scotland & Devon. Neither were they disappointed, with a quality run of females, although the sale topper was a ram lamb, Dash Wood Dreadnaught, produced by Jane McBean, and brought out as Male Champion and Reserve Overall Champion. He topped the sale at 680gns and was purchased by R Lightfoot, Mold.

Second top price of 400gns was paid for a ewe lamb, Pen Llyn Doris, produced by Mr W.J. Williams who won her (younger) ewe lamb class, and going to join the Otterden flock of Gail Shrubsall.

Close on her heels was another ewe lamb, Female and Overall Champion, Cernyw Dwysan, brought out by G & L Owen, and sold for 380gns to GD Bowers & Sons, Bridgnorth.

Out of the 8 shearling rams, only 2 found new flocks, Adeney Captain and Gilfach Caradog, both making 150gns.

Shearling ewes peaked at 300gns, a substitute Cynefin, 784C, and selling to RS Kinsey, Montgomery. 2 more ladies both made 280gns, Cernyw Casi (G & L Owen & going to Jethro Kimber’s Devon flock ) and Cynefin 717C (Olwen Hughes-Owen & also going to RS Kinsey).
