Zwartbles Female Sale tops at 1100 for Ewe Lamb

Harrison and Hetherington held the annual in lamb females and empty ewe lamb sale on behalf of the Zwartbles Sheep Association. It was the latter that reached the top price of 1100 Olbre Firecracker the earlier breed champion, a December born twin sired by Wallacetown Carbon out of Wallacetown Christine from O Breeze, Barnard Castle it met furious bidding with the winning bid being secured by L & J Sharp who took her home to join their Paddock flock in Inverness. The reserve champion also a ewe lamb sold for 900 Wallacetown Fern a December born quad sired by Wallacetown Eclipse and from an imported dam from S & C Rae Dumfries sold to J Powell Co Rosscommon.
Shearling Gimmers sold in lamb and also met strong bidding with Tardoes Eve Anna, sired by Whinnow de Niro out of Glencoy Anna from M Simpson and scanned for twins by Tardoes Evoque selling to H Pritchard’s Evistones flock Newcastle Upon Tyne. A bid of 950 was paid by B Wenmoth Cornwall who took Castle Hill Emma scanned twins to Beechhay Chancellor from P & S Addison home to his Radland flock.
Ewes topped at 450 twice for Liverton Desire sold running with Holmlea Dinado from J & S Stevenson to A Bateman Kendal Holmepride flock and Whinnow Delacour scanned twins sired by Whinnow Dark Secret from T & G Blamire selling to K Barwell’s Brickfield flock Northants.
Although some lots proved tricky to sell plenty sheep found new homes and many met fast bidding creating an upbeat mood around the ring with many breeders buying and perhaps a few presents for Father Christmas to deliver.

41 Ewe Lambs £282.21
