Zwartbles Ewe Lamb tops in lamb sale at 2000gns

The recent Zwartbles in lamb and ewe lamb sale topped at 2000gns for Hayberries Greendream, a ewe lamb bred by Peter and Susan Addison and out of a Great Yorkshire Show Reserve Champion. She was eventually knocked down to C&S Bissetts Carrah flock, Dingwall and is an early 18th Birthday present for Zwartbles enthusiast Sarah.
An in lamb gimmer was next top at 1750gns, Clairewood Foxy Lady, carrying a single to Wallacetown Fulmar, from C Critchley. She met with fast bidding with victory going to A Batemans Holmepride flock near Kendal.
Next were 2 gimmers at 1000gns, firstly the reserve champion Hayberries Foxy Fire, carrying triplets to Stewarton Fantastic a ram who has won numerous prizes including interbreed champion at Ripley show, rounding off an excellent day for the Addison’s, and next Holmlea Fudge, consigned by breeder AJ Thorburn, and whose bloodlines includes the well known on the show circuit Stonebyres Whinstone. She sold to R Hurds Whitefield flock, Taunton. In lamb gimmers met a 100 per cent clearance selling to an average of £440.01.

Meanwhile the overall sale champion Stainmore Gucci from L&F Brown was a popular choice and with a winning bid of 1000gns, she’s away to join judge Brian Gibson’s Conic flock in Dunbartonshire. Next top was Saltur Gabby from T&S Donnelly making 900gns and the jouney north to the Isle of Arran with C A Anderson to join her Creag Bhalg flock.
76 ewe lambs sold to an average of £283.91.
6 aged ewes were forward to an average of £248.50, and topping this section was Craigies Duchess, the winner of her show class and consigned by breeder Stuart Craig and carrying twins to Craigies Dictator.
