The second sale of the year to be held at Worcester Market didn't attract many sheep but every sheep entered found a buyer. Topping the sale at 400gns was the only MV accredited male entered, and Reserve Champion, the ram lamb Barmoll Balou, brought out by Eric & Molly McConkey, and not going too far, to M Gatehouse’s flock at Bewdley, Worcs.
2 entered and the Champion was Lot 2, Brace Widgeon from Noel Porter and Avril Evans, selling at 290gns to the Gable West Flock of Mrs R M Knowles
Again Porter & Evans topped this section, this time with a Beeston shearling ewe making 320gns and going home with J Mason to join the Oaklacy Flock. Next best was a Ross Agnes, brought out by Mr & Mrs D Hutchinson (Glengorse), selling at 210gns to Mr J Kimber’s Speccot flock in Devon. Joining her on the trip to the south west was Brace Alexis, 200gns.
Cathy Johnson’s Adeney flock from Shropshire took the top 2 prices, 240 & 200gns respectively. Adeney Beverley, the top price, joined Barmoll Balou at M Gatehouse’s flock, whilst Adeney Bree was bought by R & V Grinnall, whose Beech Hay flock are based near Kidderminster.
Only 2 sheep were presented, both shearling rams from Miss S Chambers’ Lodley Flock. They both proved impossible to separate price-wise, each making 150gns and selling to L Rolph, Southampton and E W Howells, Llanfyllin respectively.
