Sale Report for Stirling Market on September 22, 2018

A disappointing trade but with vendors being realistic about the cash shortage in the agricultural sector this resulted in a better than usual clearance rate. The top price on the day of 310gns,went to a flock ewe that was sold outside the ring, Thistledome Dutchess who won a 2nd prize ticket from Mr Kaleem Shaikh, Thistledome sold to E Porter of Daill Cottage, Bridgend, Islay. Dutchess  by Somerwood Statesman and out of Wallacetown Trixie sold having run with Thistledome Flashback a tup that won 3 first prizes and 2 Reserve Championships this show season.

Next best on the price scale were 2 ewe lambs, both making 300gns,both from Mr Stuart Craig, Craigies and both selling to Mrs Lorraine Crum of the Torranyard Flock.The former was Craigies Ferne, the Female and Supreme Champion on the day, by Whinnow Bright Spark and out of Selside Wisp. The latter was Craigies Fair Lady the 2nd prize ewe lamb and Reserve Champion Female, again by Whinnow Bright Spark and out of Darroch Dalia.

The 1st price ewe Barmoll Clamity Jane bred by Eric and Molly McConkey and shown by Mr Kaleem Shaikh was next best female at 250gns. By Blackmount Ali-Baba and out of Barmoll Alana she again sold having run with Thistledome Flashback and again is going over to Islay but this time to G and M Porter of Carrabus, Bridgend.

The top price Gimmer on the day at 200gns was Tardoes Emotional Mary from M and J Simpson, Tardoes selling to J and J Grant, Blackcastle, Pathead, Midlothian. This gimmer was by the imported tup IM20360-00937 and out of Tardoes Berry Mary.

In the male section the top price was for the 4th prize tup lamb from L, R and J Sharp, Paddock with Paddock Ferdinand. This Paddock Entertainer son out of a Hedgefield ewe sold to A Preston, Little Mark Farm, Stranraer. The Champion Male and Reserve Overall , East Middle Francis from Mr Charles Scott, East Middle made 200 gns to K R Howman, Boreland, Blairgowrie. Francis is by Hayberries Editor and out of East Middle Burnhope.

The best Shearling tups were 2 from Mr J Thorburn, Holmlea both at 150gns.

Thanks to our judge for the day, Mr John Stevenson, Liverton for making the long journey up and then helping out by purchasing  some.
